That part under the tail light is actually curved at that point so it would’ve been harder to drill into the body. It’s a weird design choice why Hyundai didn’t put a separation edge there. But yeah...

Those look like the same angled wedge flaps that allow for ventilation or water drainage like what’s under the front engine undertray. They are angles like that so air flow that’s detached hits them...
