0w-20 or 0w-30? What has best MPG and winter is coming in pa soon.

I use Amsoil 0w-20 now and its a 1 year or 25,000 mile oil and the oil filter is a one year filter too. So my one year oil change is in one month.

What gets me better mpg i cant figure this out and im sure its not a huge difference.

0w-20 or use 0w-30?

thanks

You'll never notice the difference.

I had a nice conversation with the local oil expert and amsoil dealer I know. This guy maintains fleets for companies and has seen a lot, so I trust em. He explained it like this.

As viscosity goes down the losses from windage goes down. However, there is an increase in friction losses. At some point, the two start to balance each other out. But, with the increase in friction losses, you also get some additional wear.

In the end, he suggested just to always go with a synthetic. The cold performance just kills dyno oil, and it also allows longer oil change intervals. But, stay with a slightly higher viscosity to reduce wear.

yea i used the amsoil 0w 20 for a year now, i'll just stick with that.
