#1, #2, & #17, qualifiers at the US Nationals are 4 cylinders!
The US Nationals at Indy this week allows the top 128 stock class cars to compete. The following are the 4 and 6 cyl cars that are qualified:
#1 Steven Pohill in EF/S - 98 cubic in 82 Ford Escort / 16.339 et #2 Ronald Seibenick EF/S - 140 cubic in 84 Mercury Topaz / 16.468 et #17 Jimmy Malone CF/S - 153 cubic in 91 Dodge Shadow / 14.298 et # 61 Bill Owen BF/S - 207 cubic in 00 Pontiac Grand Am / 13.893 et These 4 will be racing against 124 V8s...I wish them luck. Tim Kish in a 99 Dodge Neon 123 cubic in non-turbo is qualified in the tougher super stock class....the only 4 banger ot there with a 13.40 pass in SS/GS. He was the # 115 qualifyer out of the 128 that will compete. A note about Steve Pohill....e professionally drag races that Escort for a living, and even though it's slow, he has won several national events against the big dogs! As far as my 05 Neon SRT4....in stock configuration I would not have been able to make the field....with my quickest pass I would have been in # 168 spot, way out of the top 128....but my 31 mpg would have been the best! |
Well...darn it...all of the stock cars except the V6 of Bill Owen lost 1st round...he lost second.
The super stockers run tomorrow....so Tim Kish still has a chance in his 99 neon. |
