V8 AWD Civic conversion

Balto and Jed were discussing upgrading Wolfie's Mustang with parts from the Ford family and I asked about the HX, and Balto just said that you could put in a VX transmission and drop your RPMs, or an EX one, and raise them. I deleted that post and, instead of distracted his thread, I claimed another spot in the Off Topic forum.

A while ago, I read about something like this: "It started with a LS turbo. Then it was a K24 turbo, and then it became a turbocharged V6--at least until 2012. Somewhere along the way HickhamHatch decided that a turbocharged V6 was not the answer, but a RWD conversion with a 2000-horsepower turbocharged V8 is." That is from an e-mail from Honda-Tech.com

I cannot find it now, apparently HickhamHatch had all relevant threads deleted, but he pulled an amazing number of parts from other Hondas, and his car looked stock. He had a half-inch drop, so it was not really noticeable, and possibly CRV wheels or something. I doubt the V8 was a Honda, Honda Planning V8 -- but Not Until 2015 - AutoObserver although I did find this Twin Turbo RWD V8 Civic - Honda-Tech, which uses a Lexus V8, but if he completed the project, and he has done similar things before, then he simply stopped posting, at least there.

I am just waiting to get enough hours at the bakery to finally replace my timing belt and then resume ecomodding Chorizo, but I can usually appreciate hard work. Do any of you know of any Civic builds like these?

I've seen video of a RWD CRX with a small block chevy. I've also seen a magazine spread with a FWD CRX that had the 3.5 (I think) from an Odyssey and an Acura 6-speed gearbox of some kind, it was in some sort of track car shootout.
The Lexus 1UZFE would be pretty neat. That's a really stout engine.

2,000 horsepower?!

Could a Civic frame honestly handle 2k horses? I would think it would twist the frame like a pretzel.

2000 hp doesn't matter until grip is added. And if you are hooking up with 2000hp chances are you have a tube chasis and the subframe isn't doing anything any more lol

2000 HP does not exist inside something that is not designed specifically to take 2000 HP. The scariest car I have ever been in made 1200 HP or so, and had not only the original GM subframes in it, but they were tied together with a massive chrome moly roll cage. 1969 Chevrolet Nova, 540 CI engine with a pile of nitrous on top. It ran 8:96 @ 155 MPH at the dragstrip. My buddy let it rip with me in the passenger seat at a stop light one night, and man I swear I had to call in sick to work the next day, it was that scary. Regardless of the body on the outside of the car, ANYTHING that makes 2000 HP is not the same car it came from the factory as, it's a body shell with a fortune's worth of engineering and custom fabrication under it holding it together.

I stumbled onto one that's made it to 25% of your power goal and 50% of your cylinder count goal. NMNA (Not Mine Not Affiliated)

Cool. I've got a buddy in Chicago with a 93 civic hatch and an Acura tl v6 and six speed manual. He autoxes that car it's stupid fast! I'll have to find pics. The motor goes in backwards because of the v6 different rotation. It's crowded in the engine bay to say the least.

Edit. Found it. This is a k series (PHAT 4cyl) stuffed into a 93 hatch, with a 6 speed. Exhaust almost touches the firewall!

yup. Fully built n.a. K series. Stupid fast. Still a 4 banger, though!

Thanks,
Victor

Fun stuff guys! Thanks for sharing!

I read two-thirds of the Civette thread. People always talk about tall guys pulling a Hightower, removing the front seats, and sitting in the back. He almost did that. I understand his choices, but it seems like he could have found a four-door, and just used the back door to access the driver's seat!

Jed, I do not know if the 2,000-HP Civic was the one that I found previously, especially since I could hardly find anything about it. I do remember it being white.

So, how well would it work if I put a Civic engine in a Corvette?
