Now that's a rolling advertisement!

Piwoslaw 12-25-2009 03:55 PM

Nice:thumbup:
So how much are they paying you for advertising? (Just kidding)

My grille block is also clear:

http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...6&d=1257169109

This allowed me to mount the LED DRL's behind the block without messing up the aerodynamics. But no EcoModder sticker on mine, I've got a better place for it:)

mcrews 12-25-2009 10:07 PM

Piwoslaw,

FIrst you are one of my role models here. I like the quality you bought to your mods and your input is spot on.

I really like the led look. I may change my entire set up next year to do them. I had installed Haols as my DRLs and the two would clash.

Nice clean look! What kind of plastic did you use? How did you cut it?

Dave

mcrews 12-26-2009 06:41 AM

DAve,
walmat has poster frames in their picture frame section. the cheapest one is $10. it has a clear plastic that is in place of the glass in the frame. that is what I used. It is very thin. and flexible. It also has a very thin sheet of protector film on each side that you'll want to peal off. I used tin snips to cut it(probably not the right tool but ......) Welcome and good luck!!!

Sorry for getting slightly off topic, but buying a poster frame just for the plastic reminds of a true story.

During Communist times my Mom's collage friend went into a bookstore and bought 20 books by Lenin and Marx. After paying she immediately started taking them out of their plastic covers and throwing the books into the trash. The store clerk nervously asked what's going on, probably expecting a political provocation. The friend explained that she needed covers for her notebooks, and propaganda books with covers where cheaper than the covers themselves!

Hey MC,

Thanks for the great tip & you just use hot glue to hold them in?

Thanks again,
Dave

mcrews 12-27-2009 12:57 PM

actually:
I used electician tape, black the first time then I ordered silver. I wanted it to be flush withe the body lines if you look close you can see the grey.
the black held up fine for 8 weeks, I juts wanted a tape that matched the body better

Dave's Civic Duty 12-28-2009 01:21 AM

Wow, I did not notice that. How 'bout good ol' duct tape?

My bumper is red & I know I have some in red somewhere around here.

Thanks again,
Dave

mcrews 12-28-2009 01:40 AM

Duct tape will ruin the finish. Electrician tape wont. That was a big deal to me. Do the black elecrtician and then call around .....somebody sells red elec tape.

BamZipPow 12-28-2009 01:46 AM

Home Depot/Lowe's should carry the Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Color Coding Tape 35...they come in various colors...including red. :D

I think the halos would look perfect with LEDS... if you made a new halo from LEDs.

Make yourself an array of LEDs and wire up a set of them in a ring to come on for DRL (if you intend to keep DRL), wire the lower half of the array as low beam, and the entire array as high beam.

Carlos -

I love it when an otherwise potentially reputable business confuses the English language so egregiously.

I don't see an angle anywhere on that product that would be worth mentioning... I do see the angel eye lights, though. ;)

cfg83 12-28-2009 04:28 AM

Christ -

Ha ha, I didn't even notice it. However, technically, a circle is always traversing the same "angle" in space. And you *could* add some batteries and use them in an angel costume for halloween. Or, when the cop pulls you over, put it on your head, turn it on, and claim you are innocent. If you make them laugh, sometimes they let you go.

Dave

Not to mention your iron intake, possibly chromium, too, in some cases... and more than likely create a catalyst to speed up metal decay in whatever area your tongue touched.

Did you have your tetanus shot lately, Dave?

Dave's Civic Duty 12-29-2009 07:42 PM

Yep, all my shots are up to date.:)
