1930's Tatra/ Cd.025
This is a nice "deep" site:
International Streamlined Tatra Site Jay Leno has one: Jay Leno's Garage |
deep
Yeah it's deep alright.Racing to catch up with the past! Very frustrating,I'm going to take two aspirin and beat my head against the wall(some more!).Thanks for the post, great sites!

Came across that Tatra site, then searched Ecomodder. Those cars are incredible for low Cd.

The '30's Tatras were the sorts of cars you get when creative engineers design cars instead of committees comprised of cowardly "careerist" drones and low-wage blockheads on H-1B visas. Dolt-ridden "focus groups" will always favor mediocrity over innovation. Unions stifle the best and protect those who need firing. Hopefully, our post-depression economy will function much as it did in the years following the last great depression. Most truly interesting vehicles these days are coming from small outfits...'twas ever thus!

B) How can you blame unions for management decisions? Is your money where your mouth is? Do you drive a non-union built car? C) After the last Depression we had a World War. No thanks. |
Tatra makes military jeeps, aircraft and few other items. Although they announced plans to make a new air-cooled engine that meets euro-enivro standards. If you believe Wiki, that is.
Tatra's in the 30's were luxury cars. Huge room, leather interior, quiet engine. Jay Leno has one and did a spot on it. (totally awesome link above from OP) I think it took a great long while before the whole Aero thing caught on in the US. And it's still not completely caught on. I mean, They sell the Honda Element in the US but not Europe. And that thing looks like it's made from Lego's. And I'm sure Tatra as a company, decided that Aerodynamics are important. Other companies put less emphasis on it. I would leave, Focus groups, unionized labor, committees and such for a discussion on economics, which is beyond the scope of this thread. I'll be happy to discuss in OFF TOPIC. |
^^agreed.... just wish car companies would start getting aerodynamic,.
at first aerodynamic things look odd to consumers,... this is because they are used to seeing things like the aforementioned Element. to me aerodynamics are beauty and create the most interesting/natural organic/edgy? shapes. you know what I mean... though right? like the current Civic... aerodynamic and pleasing to the eye! lol . if they would start getting people used to it now we could all be driving fun cars that perform well look good and use very little/no non-replenish-able resources thanks OP and thanks Tatra! |
0.25 fact or estimate?
Is Cd 0.25 a hard number? Reason I ask,is that Tremulis estimated the Tatra @ Cd 0.36.He's the kinda person who'd know the actual value.Just curious.
