1940s "Car of the Future"

Okay, this is an extraordinarily random and weird find on youtube, however I couldn't help but notice how aerodynamic the "future car" looks in this advertisement (0:33-0:48). Heck it even has a dorsal fin!

Now I have a strange urge for tea somehow...

If you notice, American cars from the 30's, 40's and 50's had aerodynamics built from the factory. Actually, some of these old cars get the same fuel mileage as the vehicles of similar size get today with 60 year old technology!

The Crosley was an astounding vehicle built from 1939-1952 and got 50 MPG!

More interesting info on the Crosley can be found >>HERE<<

LOL: Sneaky Paul Harvey-esque commercial :D

That vid has some interestingly accurate predictions of the future:

Airbus A380
Air Traffic Control
People trying to keep up with the hectic pace of Society they've created
Adaptive cruise control (OK, maybe a stretch).

Great find

Peakster -

The dorsal fin looks like something from the German aero-car website that basjoos posted a while back. Also, what's the name of that aero-car from back then that also featured the dorsal fin?

The city reminded me of Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon, so I went looking for "aero-cars" from the film serial but couldn't find any.

There's this "Tatra" car that looks pretty streamlined:

That car was almost lighter than air.

That first one must be a variant of the Bond 3-wheeler from my home town (well as near to one as I have) Preston ? The engine was mounted on the front wheel and pulled the car along. They also made the Bond Bug

(yes it is that orange and that stupid).
