1972 Suzuki RV90
 

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with these bikes? RV90 or RV125. My grandfather bought this bike new in 1972, and the last time it was insured was 1974. I rescued it of the barn where it had been sitting since the mid 1980s. I spent a bunch of money at 2 different shops trying to get it running correctly, the last guy got it perfect except for the fact that the carb float he "repaired" has a hole in it still and it pukes out gas from the carb bowl. This bike can be street legal, though all the signal lights have gone missing over the years. Either way, I am going to get it in good running condition, but I was wondering if they actually get good F.E. numbers? I realize it's a longshot, but if anyone here actually rides one I would love to hear what kind of MPG they get. Thanks! :snail:

IIRC they are two stroke wich is not a good start.

I don't know about Canada but in France they are sought after so I wouldn't want to spoil one through ecomodding.
Hypermilling on the other hand is really up to what is you use of the bike.

I had the RV 90 beat the tar out of it, but I'm interested in seeing how many MPGs you could get even in stock form. I do know the tires are very hard to find replacements.

Wondering if you could retro fit rims tires from the TS/TC 90 which had skinnier dirt knobbies you could replace with road tires, that would be a start to getting more MPG cause the stock RVs were for off road use being big and soft.

No wonder I've already seen some dudes retrofitting 4-stroke Honda CG-125 engines into old Yamaha DT-180 and other motorcycles originally powered by 2-stroke engines.
