The Nissan Figaro
The Nissan Figaro is a small retro car manufactured by Nissan. The car was originally sold only in Japan. Despite this, the Nissan Figaro has become popular with owners in the UK and Ireland, given the popularity of second-hand Japanese import cars. Its appearance has a resemblance to the 1960s Datsun Fairlady models.

My Subaru 360 likely gets better FE. Trouble with that car is
1. Automatic
2. Larger Turbo Engine
3. Rather pricey

If it was the manual with the non-turbo engine at about half the price :)

He probably is one of those guys that goes over to Jap and buys a dozen old cars for $500 pays the shipping and sells them here for a larger amount. Since each car is slightly different he listed 1 ad for each?

He must figure we being MPG conscious would really like kei cars.

They would make very good electric conversions though.

We are an importer based out of Toronto ON.
We use to post here last summer (with permission from the Admin) but stopped for some time.

I see those driving around every so often in my town, a few people must have them.
The car is basically a 90's Nissan Micra (did that make it to north america?) underneath with the old style body on top; this actually makes getting parts and servicing pretty cheap since tons of micra's were made.

You should go to all the forsale ads and compare you car to theirs and list what you don't like.

Also, there is no way you can buy that car in Japan for $500. The industry is not an easy cash grab.

Nice car matty.

Show a listing for another kei car lookalike competitor and I will.

Also I just don't think an automatic Kei car makes any sense you end up with small size and poor FE for that size.

Nice car matty.

In Japan they basically have to unload cars once they get to a certain age, typically a few thousand depending on the model but shipping is also a couple thousand.

The trouble is this car is rare on this side of the pond so it demands much more of a price than it otherwise would. Also legalities make it difficult to license these which also is a premium if license-able.

Not really worth the effort for ecomodding though. A Geo or even my Subaru are easier to locate.

I love these. They are adorable. I drooled over one at the Dallas Auto Show this year.

Except that the Figaro is so much better looking than any Geo or Subaru. ;)

Actually my 1970 subaru 360 was only a few years after that body style and to me looks very cute.

In Japan most cartoons characterize cars as looking like my subaru ladybug.

Old subarus looks nothing like the weirdness that came later.

That car does have the retro look and as a collectable would be fine.

Here in the US parts would be troublesome as well as registration. The DOT doesn't seem to like those cars much.

ShadeTreeMech 09-04-2010 07:53 PM

with the advances the auto tranny has made in the past few decades the difference in this car with an auto and a manual are likely minimal. I'd love to have one of these, but that is a ton of money for such an older small car.

XFIME 09-20-2010 07:48 PM

Better looking than a Metro?!? No WAY!!
