1995 Cummins diesel in 1965 Cadillac
I just found this 1965 Cadillac lowrider, with its 1995 Cummins diesel swap. Check out the side exhaust bursts after 1:06 and 2:28:

"I guess it makes people mad"
LOL, no kidding. "ATS 71 MM turbo, ATS intake horn, ATS everything" Waste of money and source of smoke. It was all good till he touched the engine :D |
No that a Caddy couldn't handle the weight of the Cummings; but I think a GM 6.2, or 6.5 would have been easier on the budget.
Any ideas on the weight of these 3 engines??? Also, as far as Cummings, and mpg go, would not an older 12valve be the hot ticket?? Thanks for your thoughts! |
The cummins is about 975 lbs dry. I can't tell you about the others. They are very poor engines in comparison to the 12V.
That '95 engine was among the best of the 12V. It has the Bosch P7100 pump, a significant improvement over the rotary pumps used between 1989 and 1993. It also has a better transmission, a 4 speed with torque converter lockup in 3rd and 4th. It is what I have in my truck, more or less. |
Looks like the trash truck, sounds like the trash truck, smells like the trash truck . . . .
Guess that state funded recidivism reduction training mcjob at the county landfill is having positive results. . |
Smoking like that it either has some idiot mods, or some seriously putrid injectors.

I don't know about you guys, but *I* was half-expecting that Caddy to suddenly begin "hopping" and do the automotive "La Cucaracha" side-step down the roadway (ha,ha)!
