1998 Civic LX with a full HX swap + vx trans

$2500 OBO ****PREVIOUS INSURANCE LOSS****

I am going to list it here for upto 2 weeks. If no interest I will be putting it all back to stock and just selling it on CL

I bought and Insight so the Civic must go.

The car is a 1998 Civic LX sedan, a/c, cruise, power everything.

It's got a CRV cluster swap. Plug and play. The LX cluster tach and fuel gauge didn't work. I still have it.

The true miles are unknown.

Right now you can come drive it.

A complete D16y5 swap with a VX ratio transmission. It runs and drives perfectly. No check engine light, no problems. Will pass emissions right now.

My crappy daily 25 mile round trip commute I get 41 MPG. Mind you my commute is not economy friendly.

I recently did a 120 mile mostly highway round trip and averaged 48 MPG and I did hit a patch of stop and go traffic.

I have a very small LED shift up light and very small VTEC LED also.

There's also an injector cut button and a hidden kill switch.

I am asking $2500 obo ****CAR DOES HAVE ACCIDENT HISTORY****

Title is in hand. It does NOT say rebuilt on it but I can assure you that it had been insurance totaled before. The front hood, bumper and core support had been replaced. Not the air bags or fenders. It was hit right smack center of the bumper.

If you want a turn key car with excellent MPG potential this is it. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer, higher MPG vehicle for this price.

Car is located in Marysville, WA

I have the engine swap and transmission listed in the FS section also. If one or the other sells I will delete this post and just put it back to a stock LX and craigs list the car.

Pictures to come.

** REVISED 5/3/15 ** Interior is back to stock. Zero instrumentation is included.

I will be pulling the engine / trans and going back to bone stock next week. When I do that this ad will be deleted.

Car's not clean. If I still have it in a few days I'll wash it and clean it all out. *time permitting*

It's purty.

Why does it have a moon roof switch lol

You realize with some low rolling resistance tires, a grille block, and warm air intake you would probably nudge over 50mpg easily.

But anyways are you willing to sell the gauge cluster bezel, I have the same vacuum gauge. Is that a wide band or narrow band af gauge?

Are those factory Honda floor mats?

Mpguino for sale ?

:)

I can run a carfax for you if you post the vin if that helps.

Engine bay shots?

I put the switch there with the plan of using it for one reason or another and haven't yet.

Yeah I do realize that I could get 50 with this car but I wouldn't call it easy in the terrain that we have around here. It took every trick I could think of to get 41.x on a commute tank, and that is what I do 90% of the time, commute.

I would sell the bezel if the car ends up going back to stock. They're not terribly expensive new though.

I'm not sure if they're factory mats or not.

I am going to keep the MPGuino.

I have run a carfax in the past, it's clearly got insurance total history, hence the not clean title.

I will take a few pics of the engine bay tomorrow. It just looks 100% stock with the exception of the air filter / intake tube. I do have the stock box to put back in though.

The appealing thing with the Insight is the fact that with a few mods I can take over control of the regen / assist pretty easily and get a minimum of 60mpg without all the EOC, running super low rpms, barely using any throttle, babysitting leanburn all the time etc etc.

The Insight was very eager to get into LB at a much wider rpm range vs the D16Y5.

Who knows, I might end up disappointed in it also and end up back in a Civic or something else.

Yeah but you would see a 5% increase with the right tires. The temps are over 80 now here in Texas and yesterday afternoon I could literally keep my vacuum gauge in the green and keep up with traffic.

the insight isn't going to cure your modding lusts lol. It's fun to talk to prius owners

5% plus constant killing / restarting of engine in the lovely puget sound traffic.

There's no way that you can keep the vacuum gauge in the green and keep up with traffic where I drive. Guaranteed. You must live in some pretty flat land.

I like the fact the Insight auto starts/stops when in those situations. It was nice during the brief test drive I did.

You're right, I'm sure that in a year i'll find something else I want to tinker with and someone will get an Insight with all kinds of eco mods for less than I paid for it.

That's how it goes with me.

I'm not entirely sure what the picture you posted above is illustrating?
