1999 Rover 400 - Ecomodder newbie

This is my car, which some of you may not know because i don't think Rover sold in the US.

I don't have any mods yet, apart from some aesthetic ones like different wheels and wing mirrors from another Rover models.

I'm planning to make an underbelly cover and some air dams like BMW have in their cars, since i'm a mechanic there, i can get those parts easily. I also want to block the front bumper grill like chumly did in the Smart with an acrylic cover, i think that looks great and i can remove in the summer.

The next thing i want to make is a temperature controlled shutter for the upper grill but i still have to study that :P

Hope you like it and give me some ideas since i'm new at this and i love to learn ;)

Today i did my first aero mods. It's really nothing compared with some of the cars here but i'm going slow to see if i notice some changes in the car's behaviour.

I started to apply these little flaps underneath the car to divert the air going to the rear suspension and especially to the rear bumper which is an authenthic parachute.

I didn't want to drill extra holes in the car so i had to make the best with the already existing ones and help with zip ties. It's pretty sturdy as is, surprisingly.

Next step was the spoilers in front of the front wheels. I used the ones from the E83 BMW X3 because they were the cheapest ones and once again i was able to fit them using existing screws that hold the bumper and the wheel well cover.

But i have a question though. They weren't quite in front and parallel to the wheel as i would like, but i still think it will help to divert the air from the wheel. What do you think? Should i change its position to get a better result?

You've probably noticed that most original equipment wheel spoilers/spats do not completely cover the tread of the tire. They usuall extend around 2/3 to 3/4 of the way to the outside. It's only a guess, but I'd position yours further out than they are now.

Looks as discrete as a factory-fit would eventually be. BTW didn't Rover had some ties with BMW in the 90's???

Word of advice, do not do any grill blocking on it! The K series engines are prone to head gasket failure.
