I've made some progress on installing the replacement DC Converter. And while doing so I've updated the wiring diagram.

Just read through this, quite a journey.

The rear tensioner on the swingarm is "opening" the chain, if it would work the other way it helps the rolling resistance... The pull out mode can cause the chain links to climb on the rear sprocket adding drag. Also most of the dirt bikes use a wheel for a tensioner. You also need WAY less tension to keep the chain under control.

Have you ever looked at a Vapor dash for bikes, Not too expensive and they have various sensor attachments and alarms for the sensors.

I had a friend build another electric gadget, to cool it we stripped the motor and brazed rings around the housing, it was enough to keep it cool longer. The rings were cut out of 16 gauge copper sheet.

Keep it going I know your within a fingers reach of the goal.

PLEASE DONT QUIT!!!!! i have read the entire thread tonight for the purpose of seeing where this bike has gone from the youtube video i stumbled on and now i am EXTREMELY anxious to see it riding good........i joined the forum just to say; (1) congrats on your marriage, (2) dont give up! im new to the ev design area and found every single post you made very helpful in my design......especially the one with the treadmill motor as that is exactly what i had planed to do since i have this treadmill just taking up space in my storage. if on the other hand you do give up and would like to make a charitable donation to a familly in need, I'll take it off your hands

I have no free time or money to put towards this seeing as I am currently working towards saving up money to buy a home.
I would both love and hate to work on this because I just can't afford to run into any further issues that would require that I invest more money to finish it. It's also looking like I will probably be moving to an area where I would no longer be able to really use this bike to get around town or to/from work.

I'm also just very tempted to replace the electric drive train with a small diesel engine.

well thats a bummer but completely understandable......however instead of actually quiting you could just put it on the back burner for awhile.
a diesle??? hhhmmmmmm.......now that gives me ideas of a french fry motorcycle! .......i think i just might try one out.....

Now that I've been a homeowner for almost a year and I'm still itching to be back on two wheels, I gave myself a small budget for putting together a DIY Moped in the dirt bike frame I've been holding on to all this time.

Installed a cheap 200cc Go-Kart CVT drive setup with electric start for under $600.

Great project indeed!
Too bad in the end I watched a gas motorcycle turn into... a gas motorcycle?...

Any plans to revisit this idea in the future?
