200+ HP, 65+ MPG tank

Cross-posting from the 70MPG Challenge thread, but I'm so pleased I can't help but share it in a few places.

Drove back from Boston on Sunday, and managed a hair above 65MPG over 220 miles in my Insight. This might not seem like much of an accomplishment, but I have an engine under the hood from an Acura TSX, which has an EPA rating of 19 city / 27 highway and probably in the range of 220-230HP at the crank. I don't know if there is another 4-wheeled vehicle on the road (which isn't electric) that has this kind of power to weight and fuel economy.

Congratulations. I am impressed significantly at your considerable achievement.

However, imho, the 200hp is not possible all the time due to the physics involved but I digress here. Kinda like saying my Kostov will do 300 hp. It will, but only for the 10 seconds or so until the commutation ends.

This does not detract from the end result: you are more efficient than say 96% of the rest of the world.

Indeed. I think perhaps the angle I should have come from is that I have a vehicle which can sip fuel like a Prius for most travel, and then accelerate like a Corvette (faster than many) on demand. It's difficult to see that kind of combination outside of a sport bike.

Actually a prius is a gas hog in comparison.

My Golf beats them, bone stock, batteries not included and it has been neutered.
