They're certainly not 100lbs, more like 50-60 each before I pulled all of the airbag circuitry and whatnot out. There's probably more weight I can remove, but I just don't have the time right now.

You must know electronics. Do you still have manual first gen Insight with no battery pack for sale? Is it possible to swap out CVT transmission for 5- speed manual ?

I still have the car. I might sell it still, but I would need to talk with my wife.

I would not attempt to swap a CVT, there are way too many differences between the two.

If Ecky isn't wanting to sell his my son has a silver G1 parked at my house I'm sure he'd sell cheap. As far as I know the IMA is still functional but I'm not positive
We're 2 hours south of you

Just read through the whole thread...nice work! Didn't realize that was your trailer hitch setup I read on insight central (I'm pretty sure). Will be doing similar to mine some day. That and the headlight black on the inner surround...was thinking of "smoking" the area around it on the inside of the lens, but your way is entirely better.

Gotta have a look around and see if I can find a block heater...or at least check if mine already has one in the port for it.

Thanks for the ideas!

I definitely recommend the block heater. With the new engine swapped in, the block heater+ grille block are worth 10-15mpg on my morning commute in winter.
