2001 Ford Windstar work van
4 Attachment(s)
Greetings all. Just wanted to show everyone my Workstar and what I have done and plan to do. I am a mobile mechanic and after driving a full size van for a year averaging 16 mpg I started hunting for something more economical. I got the Windstar for $650 at 92k miles needing its third transmission. Was able to get a used Jasper reman for cheap with all its updated features and its been flawless since. With all my gear it weighs about 4900 lbs and unfortunately I cant do much about that aside from making sure I keep it cleaned out of old parts.
First easy mod was removing the roofrack and upping tire pressures to 44. Next I made an upper grill block. The van has never gotten hot according to the factory coolant gauge. Last week I installed an injector kill switch and a pushbutton starter switch so i can easily kill the engine while coasting to a red light. And just last night I installed a front air dam salvaged from a Saturn L series bumper. I just clamped it in place and drilled through my bumper and used the Saturns plastic push pins to secure it. Its not very tall so I may extend it down with some lawn edging. My future mods are: Front pizza pan hubcaps Rear wheel skirts Rear belly pan Some type of Kammback Testing or results are very hard to determine because I do such erratic driving. Sometimes I'm on the highway all day sometimes its all 25mph city. |
Looking good!
