2001 Insight thinking about buying.
It's $1,500, CVT, IMA light on, with 240,000 miles, inspection sticker up this month. It says new transmission 30k miles ago, unknown miles on this "new" tranny, but should be low to be worth installing in the first place right? Is this a good idea? At the very least could i resell it again for the same price? Would anyone here buy it for that price?
What would i do with it? Nowhere to park it, etc. etc. Seriously thinking about getting there tomorrow morning and buying it. Why can't it be a manual?!? It's too tempting and i can't think clearly. Is this a bad idea? |
$1500!?!? Heck I would go for it. At the very least you could probably make your money by parting it out or just selling it on again. Get the VIN and run a CarFax for better information about it's history. If I was located in that area I would be looking at it for sure.

At that price I could withstand the CVT.
Shouldn't take much to get it good to go, likely a grid charge would take care of the sticker |
It's probably gone if you haven't bought it yet.

Had I seen that in my area, my message would have been "Hey guys, I bought an Insight! :D" How much space would you require to park it? :) |
I decided to wait and see if anyone else buys it. The guys who owns it knows it won't pass inspection, has high mileage, and isn't worth the cost of a new battery. Too most people thats DOA, and i'm not going to pay to get rid of his problem. Failing to pass inspection is on the lemon law if i'm correct. If no one buys it, and the price goes down some more, maybe. Of course i could just swap my good battery in once a year to get around inspection.
Here's the Listing. The first thing i did was to make sure this was an actual person and a real car. If anyone around the Worcester MA area wants it. http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/4044231840.html ..... |
The IMA light won't allow it to pass inspection? That doesn't seem right. It has nothing to do with emissions, and the vehicle can safely operate without the battery pack working. I'm not familiar with Mass. inspection laws, but in Missouri they don't need to check CEL's, emissions, or anything like that.

Also a grid charge isn't THAT hard to do. |
Cough cough *pull the bulbs for the CEL and IMA* cough cough :snail:
