2001 Prius - What's it worth?

I picked up a 2001 Prius with 155k KMs (96k miles) a while back. The body and interior are very clean, and the battery pack seems fine. I had planned to drive it this summer but I am not going to have time, so it is just going to be sitting around. Seems like a waste. What are these things worth? Mine is in Vancouver BC. :snail:

LoL

Anyway here in the states there is nada
2001 Toyota Prius Value, Retail Price, Base Price, Clean Retail, Trade In Value, Standard Equipment, Detailed Information, Specs | NADAguides

Sadly every Prii driver figures their car is worth at least 1.5x the clean retail value for a dealer. :(

If thats what people are paying, then that's what it's worth. I ran into the same issue when looking for my last car. If they were going for the Blue Book prices, I'd probably be driving a Prius now. Or a 5-spd Civic Hybrid.

War_Wagon,

Sweet!

if the car is going to be sitting unused for a while, let's say
10 days or more, the 12V battery can cause problems due
slow discharge from "housekeeping"-type functions running
in the background. 12V battery below maybe 11 volts means
no start up. And if by some strange luck it starts, and the 12V
battery can't hold a charge, the car might not turn off!

Typical 12V battery service life is ~4 years... that is if it hasn't
been deeply discharged and needing a jump. Even once starts
the battery on a steep downward spiral.

Generally, it is recommended that the car be run for at least
1/2 hour, parked with the car in READY is sufficient, every two
weeks at the longest.

Alternately, hooking the battery to a battery minder, not a charger,
should keep the puny, little, weak sister 12V battery happy.

You might want to consider going to the Gen I Discussion Area
at PRIUSchat.com to get smart on your new baby.

Good luck!

Must be worth something, 'cos there's one in the Brussels car museum Autoworld ;)

Pic of the Prius in Autoworld.be :)

A museum eh? I like the sounds of that! It seems like a nice little car, but it's parked between my Insights, so everytime I see it, all I can think is that I want to be driving one of my little spaceships instead! Maybe I will insure it for a week or two just to see how I like driving it. I will clean it up and get some pics of it up here.

Am I wrong or can an insight run on either the IC engine or the electric motor and the prius can only run on the electric motor so if the IC engine fails your stuck. 2000 INSIGHT 78mpg factory/ 2012 PRIUS 65mpg. am I close

You are wrong on a couple counts.

The insight is always running off the IC, the EV portions only Boosts it.

The Prius can run on either but is bricked in most cases when the EV portion fails.
