2003 Civic Hybrid EOC Kill Switch/Injector Cutoff simple how to
6 Attachment(s)
I looked all over for a diy of how to do a kill switch for a civic hybrid and couldn't find much. I finally found a wire diagram of the injector relays.
The Yellow/ Black wire is the ground for the injector relay number 1 which is a brown relay on my car, that is the one I installed a switched off. Materials list: Momentary switch normally closed Wire (14 gauge) Wire connectors Misc ties-tapes How to: Locate the relay bank which is behind the glove box remove the kick panel under the glove box Lower the relay bank by pushing the lever and lifting the bank up and out Cut the yellow/black wire Splice in the wire for the switch Run the wire to the gear shift or where ever you want to mount it And enjoy. Only my second DIY Tread so don't hate. Any positive input is greatly appreciated Pictures speak a thousand words see below  http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...9&d=1397679039 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...0&d=1397679039 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1397679039 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...2&d=1397679039 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...3&d=1397679039 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...4&d=1397679039 |
Is the switch on the one yellow/black stripe wire? From the photo it almost looks like the red wire was spaded.

Yes,
I made sure it is the Yellow and Black wire. I'll see if I can get a better closeup of the pic. So many wires right next to each other. Edit: Pic about the closest I can get with cell phone camera. http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...5&d=1397689473 |
Thanks bro. Ill have to check my book on my insight. I want to say each injector wire grounds back to its own pin on the ecu vs being clumped together to the relay like yours. Be nice to FAS the car as autostop is flaky. Then add another switch to the ignition start lead. Maybe a centered switch with a circuit on either side to either start or FAS?

In this thread, we figured out basically the same thing. While yours is a hybrid, I think this part of the wiring is the same with our conventional Civics. I was concerned with cutting that particular wire because I wasn't sure if it would kill the immobilizer circuit also.
Any trouble with it when you kill the engine? Do you need to key off/key on in order to restart? |
Its only been one day but It seems to be working great. I DO NOT have to key off to restart. I can either bump start the engine or just turn the key to start if I'm not rolling. I don't know if I have the immobilizer system or not.
I do have a bad IMA battery, been bad since I bought the car so both my Check engine light and IMA light are on so I don't know if this mod will cause a CEL. |
I couldn't find that thread when I was searching before thanks for posting that here.
I read through it and what are the benefits of using a relay for the switch ? |

The amps are low enough that amperage isn't really a concern here. |
Ahh I see. :D
I just ordered a relay to modify the wiring just in case the switch fails. I will update the wiring process once I get it done. |
