Looking for LRR tires but I really want to run a more narrow wheel combo.

I put the UltraGuage into the truck and it’s shows I avg 25 mpg right now. Mostly highway.

We've got the same year truck, but mine's an SR-2 and I'm getting 17MPG with the 4.3L engine. Mine is also an automatic.

25 MPG is pretty darn good.

It is from what i hear. I made sure to find a stick bc of mpgs. I didn’t know it had the 2.2 when i went to look at it but glad it was after hearing about the 4.3 mileages.
I don’t plan to tow, just to put on an aluminum topper and do some camping. Think i found one in Houston and to get it tomorrow.
Is yours blue also? I’ve never seen that color before.

So what's the gross weight of the vehicle and the diameter of the tire?

Garage kept and just turned 100k miles. Grandfather died in 2017 and left this. He also left a 2017 Chevy Colorado.

google says 3,761 lbs.
Drove to the Woodlands and picked up an aluminum topper. Costs a measly $80. It was hard to find one that fit my truck. Although it sticks up from the cab I didn’t notice any change on the Ultraguage. I went with aluminum for the weight compared to fiberglass.

Overall Diameter. 27.11 in?

It's unfortunate the BMW i3 tire (155/70 R19 - high profile. Diameter 27.54") has the size, but a P rating and the i# is 300 pounds lighter.

Maybe there's another tall, narrow tire available.

Are you going to slant chop that topper?

I don’t have plans to. I live in an rv park. They don’t allow work like that. All my tools are at the exwifes place.
i want to see if it has an impact before i do anything right now.

Was the 4-cyl available there with 4WD option? in my country, only the V6 and the turbodiesel got this option, and only the V6 had the automatic transmission. Yet AFAIK the American model had different riding heights for the 2WD and the 4WD versions. I remember seeing a handful of grey-import American versions of the S10 with smaller wheels, yet I'm not sure they had a taller differential ratio to compensate for the smaller-diameter tires.

I’m not sure about that. I’m still new to this type of truck.
BTW, I’m not looking for smaller diameter but smaller width.

Quite hard to find anything like that with a ply-rating suitable to a truck (even radial tires have the load capacity measured in ply-rating). Otherwise it would be tempting to check what Coker Tire would offer...

I would be wary of Hankook tires. Mine seem to dry rot quicker than they should and the worst tire failure I ever had was with a Hankook tire. I doubt I will ever buy another Hankook tire.

Damage on my truck from the LF tire tread separating from the side wall and the Sentra has Hankooks, likely the last set I buy. The Kumho tires I had on my truck were much better.

* I've been driving a '93 Toyota 2WD Pickup with the 'same' topper, however, top and sides are a 'perfect match' to the cab.
* 31.6-mpg at a steady 100-km/h ( 62.1 mph ) with the 4-cyl, 5-speed, and 215mm section Hankook all season, 14-inch.
* VMAN455's 1991 year model of the same 4WD variant is @ 22.2 mpg at around 56-mph.

Aside from the 'roof', have yo seen the 'Extreme' aero kit for the Sonoma / S-10 ? Gale Banks Racing used these aero tricks to help get the 1st-gen S-10/S-15 down to a Corvette's drag coefficient ( from Cd0.475, to Cd 0.315 ), for a 211-mph land speed record. That would have been good for a 16.8% mpg improvement at the old double-nickel speed limit.:)

I know the topper will affect mpg but it’s what I was looking for to fulfill my desire to spend time in the wilderness. I’m 58, had diabetes since 13, suffer from mental issues and am going through a divorce for the 3rd time. It’s important to keep it and figure out different methods of efficiency.

Gonna pick up a ds seat. Maybe then it will feel more comfortable. He’s asking 60 and that’s a good pri.

Reminds me the turbodiesel Brazilian crew-cab "Pitbull nose" S10 that my mother-side grandpa had. With the armrest lifted up, a cousin of mine who was a baby back in the day would sit there and use the armrest as a backrest.
