Hello everyone

Hey gang, wanted to officially say hi; been a lurker for about 2 yrs, & FINALLY have acquired my first TDI Jetta. Yes!
Got a 96 tdi passat last year, had an issue or two but later turned out motor was shot & so was most of the interior so I got rid of it without ever having drove it.
After 3 years of looking & saving, I finally scored a mk4 jetta last week, complete with grandma hubcaps.
I've already did the basics- changing fuel filter, oil, rear brakes & caliper replacement, clean the interior, etc.
Took it to a tournament last weekend, & got about 40 mpg, so that will be my baseline to build off of.
Before I got my jetta, I have ecomodded / streamlined other vehicles we own over the last 5 yrs; my 94 2wd Dodge Cummins, & our 98 Grand Voyager.
Did a grill block & pull in mirrors on the freeway, and lighter wheels, taller tires in back, & have netted about 26 mpg on the highway with a 1000# snowplow in the back

Did a lower front block, removed the roof rack, used coroplast to streamline under the rear bumper & eliminate the parachute, & made a kammback on the voyager, & have gotten 2-3 mpg increases on the guzzling voyager. Every little bit helps.

Enjoy the new VW ride. I still have two friends with very old VW diesels ones a rabbit (I think) the over the pickup. We done some amazing hauls with that little pickup.(mostly camping gear) Last I checked he has over 320K on his odometer, but finding parts has been a bit more challenging lately.

Have you ever considered to perform some experience with alternative fuels in your TDI?

We got the wife a 1.8T beetle last year, & she absolutely loves it. Trying to talk her into a TDI beetle, but that may take some time lol.
I have 4 dodge cummins trucks, & run used filtered motor oil & biodiesel in 3 of them; I will prob run some bio in the jetta as well from time to time (the nearest station that sells it is 45 min away)
Plans are to get a trailer hitch for the jetta, & get one of those 3x6 cargo platforms that is a hitch mount behind the bumper like they sell at harbor freight (for running parts off craigslist for my trucks & cars). I will keep the body mods modest; this will be more of a utility car / parts runner for me, so no boat tails or anything like that
I have been reading a lot on deezlers posts; I will be looking into a downpipe upgrade too
