2006 Civic EX sedan
2 Attachment(s)
Just wanted to make an account here finally and introduce my semi-eco honda civic. 2006 EX automatic with 160k miles. I have made the modifications to be the least noticeable as possible, while having any mod be reversible as well if I want to sell the car. Wife likes AC and also insists that anything radical is not allowed, so no big aero things.
I have improved MPGs significantly over the ~3 years I have modded, and recently got 51mpg driving from Denver to Fort Collins quite aggressively (max speed was 86). Tanks are usually 34-42 mpg mostly because my daily commute is 3 miles in town. Town and highway driving is usually speed limit+3mph and has been ~45ish until recently where it bumped to ~50ish. The bump happened after a few things including chevron techron cleaning, small aero mods as well as turbulator tape. Even though I'm a scientist I don't do ABAB testing like I should. I've learned alot using this website and would like to thank everybody. Eco Mod List: - civic hybrid lip spoiler - downsized & lighter 15" wheels with eco tires (conti pure contact at 40psi) - removable grill block, block heater - partial undertray - replaced all but headlights with led - 2 watt solar panel to try to keep battery topped up when shut off - aerodynamic air diverters? trying to smooth flow around wheels - scanguage e - turbulator tape (not sure if this is doing anything) - sealed lots of gaps in bodywork - removed mud guards Non-eco mods: - black stripes on front bumper which covers a dent the previous owners made. - sound deadening material added to interior/engine compartment - clown car horn replaced with accord horn |

I've used thin dimple tape on my previous car (A-pillar , mirrors) Certainly altered the flow over the side windows and quietened the mirrors Didn't do bugger all on the squarish rear end though - the dimples (or tape)being too shallow for the thick boundary layer there, I'd guess |
I have definitely noticed less wind noise from the mirrors as well. I put some on the rear end and it is likely not doing anything, but I like to tell myself its helping in some way.
Wife just noticed it this week and I got the typical eye-roll reaction |
