2011 UCI Energy Invitational Race

I'm entering this race for the second year in a row. It's on March 29/30 at the Streets of Willow racetrack. It's way up in the high desert, just outside Rosamund, Ca.

It's an "efficiency race". *How far can you go on $1 of energy in an hour? The winner last year was a UCI vehicle that burned natural gas, $.80 and, I think, 40 miles distance. *I went 11 miles on $.14, came in third overall, and first in "longest projected distance".

This sounds really interesting, about how many people enter annually?

Race participation

Last year there were about seven entries, four student built vehicles, two OEM cars and my This year I don't know how many will show. The race is open if you want to join in. Google UCI Energy Invitational and you should be able to make it to the site for entry.

Thanks for posting this. I am about 90 miles away. It's too bad it's in the middle of the week (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Here is the UCI webpage ($150 to register your car) :

Registration: 2011 UCI Energy Invitational | Mechanical Design 101

Here is the raceway :

::::Willow Springs Raceway::::

I wish I had the time to burn on this. It would be fun to gut the car of extra weight and cover it with blue painter's tape for a day or two.
