2013 Dodge Dart owner

This is my first post.

I'm looking for other Dart owners and to see if they have any success stories.

I don't plan any major mods - but after only 8,000 miles - I have a best tank of 39.65mpg. The only thing I have done is air up my tires to 45psi.

Nice looking car- how do you like it?

Fozzwad 08-23-2013 07:52 PM

Overall it's a nice car and I would buy it again. But it does have a "throttle lag" (not turbo lag). There is a delay between what happens with your foot and what happens with engine RPM. I have killed this car, due to letting out the clutch pedal too fast/soon, more than every other car I've ever had - all added together.

Trick for you

Hi, I don't know if that trick would work on the Dart, but it works on most Chrysler / Dodge models :

1 - Turn key to ON (but don't start the car
2 - Wait for all lights to go off (check engine will stay on but that's ok)
3 - Slowly press accelerator to the floor
4 - Hold 3 seconds (or a bit longer)
5 - Slowly release all the way
6 - Turn key to OFF
7 - Start the car

This will calibrate your pedal, it helped a lot to remove the throttle lag in my '13 Caravan.

Hope it helps!

It's definitely possible that it's a calibration issue, but it might be that it's just a "my car has an electronic throttle" issue, as my car has an electronic throttle and it behaves a little different than any other vehicle I've driven before.

Either way, welcome Fozzwad. Those new Darts are good looking machines.

I tried the steps that Jack-MTL outlined. My car does not have a ON position for the key so I turned it to RUN. That was the position that didn't start the engine, but made the gauges light up.
I'll report back on success or failure - possibly tomorrow.

Okay - I drove the car all day yesterday without killing it once. (BTW - I'm 49 and have been driving stick shifts since I was about 14). Either it made a difference even though I can't really feel a difference, or I was just a lot more careful yesterday.
