2013 Vetter Fuel Economy Challenges
Its that time again: The Quail Challenge in Carmel CA is May 3. Followed by an invitational showing at Mike Corbin's Hollister Event, July 5. Next up is the Vetter Challenge at Ohio July 19. Finishing the year is the BIG ONE: Las Vegas to Barstow October 20.
Last year's Las Vegas Challenge was a real eye opener as two stock motored Ninjas ran side by side. The new 300 gave its rider 53 mpg while Alan Smith's Vetter streamlined 250 got 98 mpg. http://www.craigvetter.com/images/20...parison-sm.jpg We are streamlining Terry Hershner's Zero right now. Will streamlining double the range of his electric bike? Stay tuned on my web page |
Craig: posted this to the front page. Motorcycle efficiency enthusasts take note!
I'll be following the electric bike project. |
I was at a Robotics competition for high school students at the University of Calgary and a group of engineering students had an electric motorcycle on display. I talked to them a bit and they told me they where designing and building an e-bike for the e-bike racing sears, one of which will be at Laguna Seca in September. I hope to be able to persuade them that running in a Vetter Challenge might be interesting too.
I plan to be at the Carmel and the Vegas-Barstow Vetter challenges. I will be running the VT500 at Carmel and should have the CBR600 ready for Vegas-Barstow. |
