2014 Fusion AWD Turbo

Hey Guys,

We just bought a brand new Fusion Titanium AWD turbo last week and I wanted to give you a report on this car.

First off, this is the nicest car we have ever owned.
Second, this is one of the most sensitive vehicles [to hypermiling] we have ever owned.

This car has a mileage/efficiency gauge on the dash. It also has paddle shifters (6 speed tranny). If I drive the car hard, I see 22mpg in town (that is driving it really hard). My wife averages 25 to 27mpg with the car for mostly in town driving. However, I have found it quite easy to see 33+mpg in town with some simple hypermiling. If I watch the mpg gauge and shift very early, it is not hard at all to see very high mpg without even trying hard. This is keeping up with traffic and accelerating at a reasonable pace. All this from a relatively large 3,600 pound, turbocharged car.

I have really begun to appreciate modern technology and turbocharging for performance. The pumping losses are so minimal with this engine.

I love it!

Oh, I am about to turn 50,000 miles on my 2013 C-Max hybrid. That car is awesome. I never thought I would become a Ford man. But, here I am with $65,000 of Fords in my driveway. :D

Get it in the garage! Glad to hear such a good review :)

Any criticisms?

Hmm, maybe the price. This was a $35,000 car. That is kind of pricey. However, it is pretty much loaded (a couple items are lacking) and I got $3,000 off between Ford incentives and X-plan discounting plus 0% financing. So, those things dropped the price down to what I believe the car should have cost.

I have to tell you, the AWD with front/rear torque splitting and left/right torque vectoring is PHENOMINAL! I can hammer the throttle mid corner and the car just rails around, even in the rain. This thing is incredible. That being said, I have only had it for a week and most of that time my wife has been driving it. So, maybe I will develop a gripe or two over time.

That sounds like a blast to drive!

My Fiesta has been absolutely trouble free, even though it was totalled and rebuilt at 3770 miles. Pushing 27k miles now and I got it to 51.5 MPG (gauge reading) today on a day trip out in the country of about 80 miles.

The Ranger got it's first timing belt at 132k miles.

I am enjoying this car so very much. Of course, it is a brand new car, so it is easy to love. :)

That being said, what I love about it (beyond the awesome mileage for such a quick and heavy car) is the light feeling it has for such a large and heavy car. It feels very light at every input.

1.6 or 2.0?

The Ecoboost engines are something. The torque of idle is amazing!

However, it's ECO or BOOST. If you drive lightly and stay out of the boost, you'll get great mileage. If you use the boost, you won't get much eco. Ford has them programmed to run very rich and they'll pull timing quick to avoid detonation.
