2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Targets 143 MPG With 3 Driving Modes - Gas 2

LOL @ 143 mpgE. The Leaf doesn't even hit that and its a FULL EV. I guess its a step in the right general direction. I think 350Wh/mile is a bit of an optimistic number for the average driver but that seems to be what most mfgs are doing.

Right, they are probably not "counting" the electricity as part of that number? But, the "61 km/per liter" is still an impressive number.

Unfortunately for them, they're probably not going to sell very many.
The Mitsu electric car is only moving a few dozen a month. The plug in Prius, with Toyota's massive hybrid brand awareness and "primed" existing owner pool is selling roughly 1000 each month by comparison, which is also not a lot! My, I'm a downer today! |
Well if the PHEV Prius didn't cost $8K more to shove 3 extra kWh into I'm sure more people would be buying it. $8k for 4kWh of lithium is rediculous. I can go buy automotive grade lithium for half that, and they're taking out 1kWh of nimh to do it! The price is rediculous. If it were $4k more that would at least keep it under the $30k mark.
