That Porsche gets a seriously large amount of boost from its electric motor , 280hp of electric boost to pick up the slack from its meager 600hp gas engine.
Its technology will make it into a Audi in about 4 years then 4 years later VW will have it in say a Golf S hybrid.

Peel away the hype, labels, and the price, which probably exceeds my wifes and my own lifetime total earnings and you have this.

Flywheel energy storage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now make this battery reasonably cost effective and you have a real electric car, no new tech chemical batteries needed, quickly rechargeable, and almost infinite life expectancy, just not affordable.

But we can dream, right?

The flywheel sounds reasonable to make Mechanic  just need a pump to make that vacuum and Zing  have the rotor motor spinning like mad in no time, according to the diagram..actual use may vary.

They sure are getting lazy with the front end designs...

How so?

"Easier to drive than..." (the car that killed Paul Walker).

I like that the exhaust ports are on the back of the headrests. I guess that's why the back window doesn't roll down.

Want one? Sure, but I won't be holding my breath. I think I could duplicate that color with Titanium Pearl over Real Aluminum Plastidip.

Plug-in hybrid MPG values based on NEDC are but a scam, obtained by doing most of the pretty short NEDC on electricity, which simply won't happen in real life.

IRL, you'd get nowhere near these values.

Sorry, but cars don't kill people. Idiots driving beyond their ability use cars to kill themselves.

That would be fine if they didn't kill innocent bystanders in the process.

The 918 has more ground clearance, so things like wedged manhole covers won't complicate things. :)

But seriously, about that color—a warm gray pearl over a silver base, right?

This was pretty sweet on Top Gear. I like the P1 better, though.

You may look at this and see a Porsche, I see a Meyers Manx Kickout SS on a swing-axle pan with the 36hp pea shooters at the center of that diffuser. With the flat Black and shiny red scallops, it needs Moon disks. I'd prefer Molten Metal in Plastidip.

It definitely needs the exhaust tips in the headrests and 'in-hub' style electric motors inboard on either side of the transaxle. Ya gotta have a dream.

Edit: OK, the 36hp engine is really light—just move it back 1 1/2" and sandwich in a 72hp Protean Electric motor (when they ship product).

That sounds like what killed my Prelude.

Except Mom convinced me to take it to our mechanic, who said that his wife has done worse.

"It just needs new crossmembers!"
"'Kay, fixed that, but I happened to see that it needs [...], but after that it will be good to go!"

Totaling $2,400 on a car that cost $2,500 four years and 72,000 miles previous, which then dropped the transmission.

If only I had known you guys ten years ago! I could have done some of that myself! :)

The project is interesting at all, but I'd like to see some real-world mileage figures.
