Did everyone know the Yaris is a Mazda 2 but me?

Shouty just released a video that was pure clickbait, which I downvoted, but someone mentioned this detail, which I verified:

The 2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback Is the Forbidden Mazda 2 You Won't Be Sorry You Settled For

How many Toyotas are actually something else? I know they are selling BMWs now!

Comment:
The Yaris sedan has a six speed auto.

The Yaris hatch had the 4 speed. It was the last car in this market to do so.

Every car is a conglomeration of parts from hundreds of businesses, so it doesn't surprise me if the Yaris started out as the Mazda 2, though I didn't know that.

The Yaris offended me the moment I sat in one and found the speedometer in the center of the car rather than on the driver's side. That was enough for me to despise the car. The speedometer location was not something with room for improvement. My passengers don't need to be looking at the speed.

It might be a fine car otherwise; I'll never know.

What about the Mini speedometer?

I knew a girl with a Yaris. She said she loved having the speedometer in the middle. Apparently she just loved speeding because she said she forgot to check it and drove faster.

I remember looking at a car and thinking I would mount a cheap Android above the steering wheel with Torque and a speedometer.

I don't like anything about the Mini. Perhaps the turbo manual is fun to drive? Plenty of cars are fun to drive though. I'd probably buy a Honda S2000 if I wanted something small and fun. Then again, I'd just ride my motorcycle.

Cagers are meant to be practical, and I see little point in trying to make them "cool" or "fast". They are all uncool and slow in comparison to a motorcycle. There's something to be said for being fast while being protected from rain or oppressive heat though. Still pointless on most roads because it needlessly risks the public.

...I'm hoping my daughter takes an interest in go karts. Seems a relatively cheap way to have fun. I could see EV karting being popular since maintenance would be low as well as initial cost.

The new Yaris hatch is a Mazda 2; previously, only the Yaris sedan was a Mazda 2, which was formerly the Scion iA until it got folded back into Toyota and became the Yaris sedan, which didn't exist prior, but the Yaris hatchback was a Toyota. Clear as mud?

The Yaris was an abomination that only offered a manual in the 3 door. It can share Ferrari innards and I wouldn't have gotten far enough to notice.

Talk about a sleeper! What would you call it? The Yari? The Yarraris? The Ferraris?

Four-door Ferraris (however the spelling) are pretty rare, but here is a Ferrari with Toyota parts!

However, not a Yaris, sorry. Just an MR-2.

You can figure out its name on your own, I really need to study for my final tonight!

Sorry, I could not find more pixels.

Here is its inbred cousin, which would be at home in another recent thread: https://youtu.be/4S3nYlBXHc0?t=461
