31mpg - 35mpg
 

Here in Syracuse NY we get a bit of snow. I always run snow tires on my vehicles. That , and cold temps seem to kill gas mileage.

The Winterforce tires (with bad belts :mad:) , cold temps brought my commuting MPG down to 31 MPG. Usually in the summer, I can get around 35-37 MPG commuting back and fourth to work.

Finally, I had enough of of the pulling and wobbling caused by the bad belts ... and limiting my top speed to 50MPH.

Put on the summer tires and my average gas mileage is at 35. That includes cold starts in the morning and afternoon ... and this tank I also let it idle for a few minutes at the gas station when I aired the tires up to max PSI.

Have a lot of driving this weekend for easter and such, shooting for a 40MPG tank!

Going from 35 MPG (2.85714(repeating)G/100M) to 40 MPG (2.5 G/100M) means saving 0.35714(repeating) Gallons over 100 miles. Exactly 5/14ths of a gallon for 100 miles. That is an attainable goal.

It is saving the same amount of fuel as if you were going from 20 MPG (5 G/100M) to 21.53846 MPG (4.64286 G/100M)

I have to do a lot of driving on state highways this weekend and that's where the car shines. 35 for my morning commute is pretty good.

Usually the car can do 42-45 on the state highways ... but ... it's still pretty cold out and I'm hauling around a set of tires in the back (to deposit at my parents')

My '95 Geo Prizm gets similar results with M+S radial tires. I plan to add a partial grill block, front air dam, and trunk air dam. Keeping spark plugs cleaned and gapped helped along with injection cleaner and 5W-30 oil.

The car already has a full grille block, but part of that has to come off today. I have some hilly driving and don't want to overheat the car. I also use M1 OW-20 ( only 0W-20 that meets ford specs) ... but that's more for cold start help.
