40 MPG- finally!
Finally topped 40 MPG with a tank at 42.3 MPG! Woot! The first 150 miles were back and forth to work at a maximum of about 65 mph. Then took a trip up north with the next 150 miles of the tank at 60 to 65 mph with the rest at about 60 mph. I am really happy about breaking 40 but.... I WANT MORE!! Really intrigued about WorkfromHome 53's wheel covers and grill block. Anyone have any other suggestions? I could slow it down on the highway more, but I already get some dirty looks doing 65. LOL Just read about the KIWI - looks nice but hefty price tag. Any suggestions here between that and a SG?

Congrats on the mileage. With speeds like that you should definitly be looking into aerodynamic mods.

I like the Aveo but dang, it's picky when it comes to fuel econo. I'm actually happy to see someone bring it up to over 40mpg! I'm trying! No luck yet! (still in the break in though)

Good job. I was happy breaking the 40 mark in my car but I know I can do better. Newest goal is the 45mpg.
As for advice, see my sig and if you're not impeding traffic flow and driving in the right lane, try and ignore the dirty looks. Don't cave to the peer pressure. |
congrats on the 40+mpg. to have a car that can be quite dynamical, it is a good goal. I did this unintentional years ago, when fuel wasn't much of a concern. Glad I stuck to it.Once at 40, 45 does seem a next step..
the limitations of 65mph and thinking of every little thing is still a frustration.I don't think of it. With mpg comes another dynamical that has to be met...like the real world. 65mph on the highway seems slow alot where I am, but the high mpg sustains into high 70mph. Little car being a bigger one safley is all one could ask for...and hardly happens. |
