5% mpg gain with bsfc based p&g - 2013 subaru sti

Hello all,
I've always read about bsfc on here but could never quite grasp the concept (step on the gas at %80 load to be more efficient....whaaa?).

I'm able to average 40-45 tank mpg on my gsr del sol with plenty of eoc, which I was happy with. So with my new sti that's a gas hog, I finally tried using bsfc based p & g and it works! (duh you guys already know that).

Not the most scientific recording method but, the first quarter tank my trip computer was stuck on 24.3 mpg by using normal p & g. I couldn't get any further improvement. Then in just one day of driving to work an back while doing bsfc p & g, the trip computer jumped to 25.5mpg!

Once I get an sgii, I can finally do more mpg experiments on the sti.

More driving around today... Bumped up the trip mpg to 26.1. Based on EPA estimates of 23 mpg highway, that's a 12% better than EPA.

I'm thinking 30mpg on this car is certainly doable!
