Hybrid battery thefts

Here is something that I came across that really bothers me. Thieves are catching on to what these batteries cost, so we need to get prepared.

Lol, good luck getting mine!

My car is either at work or at home, and I keep the hatch locked. I don't bother locking the doors . . . . .

Out of site, out of mind, is one of the best protections. Replacing all of the fasteners that hold the battery down with an assortment of torx, torx plus, tamperproof torx, 2 different allen hex head sizes, phillips, and whatever else you can come up with, will slow them down a little as well, in case they do get that far....

Well they can't steal your catalytic converter in an EV.. That prius battery is not so easy to remove, that is one desperate thief.

I'm sure, even if a Prius battery wouldn't be so deadly, at least its 388V can scare the hell out of them

I don't consider that to be wishing bad things to people.

Yea, I suppose dancing is generally a good thing... I was never into break dancing, but it always looked like they were having fun.

The prius battery has a disconnect, once it is removed, there is no electricity coming out of the battery. I also think these batteries have serial numbers, one might record it and so if sold could identify it, but they can remove the cells and sell them. These thefts are probably from a single person. like house breakins, sometimes seem like epidemic, but it is from one person.
