75mpg Citroen AX
Great results here with my Euro banger. I have a 50 mile/day commute which is mainly 40mph. My Audi TT was getting expensive on fuel and servicing so I bought a 1.5 diesil AX for £250 to see what the saving could be.
The result is fantastic. 75 mpg with no mods just using the eco driving tecniques. I did have issues with air in the fuel which set me backwards and ment I couldn't brim to brim it but that is now sorted (diesil bug in the sender unit) Now running 75% sunflower oil at £1/liter and just removed the rear seat, spare wheel and tool kit to keep the wieght down. I'm aiming for 80 mpg on this tank but it's taking ages to empty the tank to calculate it! |

Just to clarify: are you talking in Imperial gallons? Regardless, pretty impressive. Welcome to the forum. |
Oh yes, mpg imp :-)
Still some way to go but a real promising start. I have a bit of a fleet of nice motors but I find Eco driving the AX a real joy! |
Do you have MPG feedback / instrumentation? That makes it even more fun.

Don't think a vacuum gauge will do you any good.

Not sure what can be used on an old car then.
Latest fuel cost saving...... I'm blending my old engine oil in with the fuel. Half a liter per tank to start with. |
The only guage you could use is a fuel flow meter linked to a speed sensor. IIRC the '95 AX has an electronic speedo so you could tap into the input pulses for that, which would make the job easier.
Something like this would work, but be prohibitively expensive I expect!! JPS Engineering Fuel Meters |

Another AX fellow :) Welcome ! Have a look at my thread :
http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...get-24011.html I have mounted 2 flow meters to measure the fuel consumption (volume only) but it's rather expensive and not really easy to mount. My '95 AX has a mechanical speedometer and according to Citroën Service, only the latest gasoline had an electronic sensor. 3,8 l/100 km is a good start but you'll see the AX has even more potential. |
