88 Crx - VTi swap

Planning to do a VX swap into my 88 crx hf. I need some help figuring out what all to get together before I order the motor. I have a vx under dash harness ( don't know if I need this) and ordered a US P07 ecu. Will this ecu work with the JDM d15b vtec-e( I think it will)? Also I am wondering whether I should source the engine from vtec-motors (canada) on ebay or nippon-motors? Should I buy new motor mounts for the old engine or the new one? I know I'll need an oxygen sensor. My hf already has an egr do I need a different control box? Do I need an obd0-obd1 harness for the ecu. I'm a little lost on the specifics that most build journals seem to skip over.

Thanks for any help.

Is the d15z1 the same as d15b vtec-e both are supposedly sourced from japan.

List***

clutch
engine mounts (old ones dry-rotted)
cv axles (reusing hf transmission)
axle oil seals
engine seals
p07 49 state ecu (on the way)
obd0-obd1 ecu harness
water pump (is this the same on d15b vtec-e and d15z1?)
timing belt (is this the same on d15b vtec-e and d15z1?)
5-wire 02 sensor for lean burn

will this work for most of the electrical conversion with the new ecu?

can I use my old cluster or will I need a civic vx cluster?

Ok, I changed my mind. I'm going to get a d15z7 (d15b) 3 stage vtec and do some obd2 wiring! Means I just wasted money on a P07 ecu. Oh well.

man..... no love at all? wtf guys? if you can find it, grab the z1 motor. here's a link to someone else who did it....crxMPG - Gas mileage never looked so good CRX D15Z1 (Civic VX) Fuel Economy Swap Guide

if i had the money that's probably the project i'd be working on. but since i dont i'll just modify what i have. you should too... aero at least.

don't be discouraged. just keep on pushing

When you get all done, would you post what your before/after mileage looks like. Power wise, it should be a lot quicker. Mileage wise, I suspect it will be a lot closer to what your getting now, than not. I think it will be good change, overall. The car should be a lot more fun to drive, also

I expect mileage wise will be a lot better as well. Sure the old engine gives the occasional 55-60mpg roadtrip, but in town it gets about 30-35, and to maintain high-mileage is currently excruciating. I'm planning on doing an alternator kill switch too, and hopefully get one of these new-fangled mpguinos. I have two of the old supermids, but it would be nice to get mpg readout and my old(current) vss was giving me bad readings in the hf which ultimately led me to stop using them. My best mileage in the crx seemed to be about 35mph in 4th gear according to the supermid... I'm expecting my best constant mileage speed to increase a bit. I've read that in the civic vti 30km/l (72mpg) was possible at 60km/h (37mph). The hf is several hundred pounds lighter, has longer gears and better Cd.

When I pull the old 155K motor I'll rebuild it and put it in my 90 crx that has 270K mi for a real comparison against the conversion. Although the 90 is heavier.

How far in the project are you now?
