89 metro... shift knob removal
anyone know how to remove the stock shift knob on an 89 metro lsi? i can't seem to get it off and i want to replace it.
thanks! |
Lefty loosey didn't work?

Lefty loosey should definitely do the trick.

thanks gents. it did. when i first tried it wouldn't budge so i was nervous to continue without some confirmation that it was as simple as that. back at it with a little more brute force and it broke loose. looks like it had some sort of quasi thread-lock kind of putty or something on it that might have been preventing it from breaking free easily.
anyway... all fixed up now. thanks! |
So what's the new shift knob?
|
I'm guessing he took it off to incorporate an engine kill switch into the knob.
At least that's what I'd do if I ever decided to improve the hose clamp situation that's been holding my kill switch to the side of my shifter since I first set it up as a "test" location more than a couple of years ago. :) |
