94' Geo Metro XFI (in WA - needs head gasket)
I bought a 1994 Geo Metro XFI last August. Apparently it now has a head gasket leak and the mechanic says $1000 to fix it. With that and some brakes work it probably needs, it would cost more than I paid for it to fix it. And given the mileage (about 190k), I'm wondering if it's just going to be a money pit from here on out.
So, if either if you have a good reason I should pay to fix it, let me know. Or if you would like to purchase it from me, let me know. It's in Camas, WA. If interested email joel at mentics.com. Someone PMed me about it but I can't reply because I don't have enough posts on this forum yet. |
Dropping a whole, lower mileage engine in would be a cheaper fix, they are small enough you could even do it your self if you rent an engine hoist.
It really all depends on how much rust it has, but with gas prices going up again and again, the value of your car is going up as well. |
I'd like one but I don't have room in the driveway for a 94 footer.

West coast car? Shouldn't be rusty.
Unfortunately, if you're going to drive 18 year-old cars, you really need to be able to repair them yourself! |
There is more than enough info on this site to help you repair your own car.
A head gasket job on this car is quite easy. Use the search engine and you will find tons of self help articles to get you back on the road inexpensively. Don't be afraid to ask for help or hints. We are all here to support one another. |
