95 civic vx transmission questions and help
 

Hey guys!
To start out, you guys rock! I have learned so much about my car from you guys. I have owned 2 and now a 3rd vx. Love em!

So, to business, I just picked this one up, and had some work to do to it but so far it's ok. But I was driving it home and it was running high rpm in 5th gear. I calculated it out and I think when the guy has the tranny rebuilt, they rebuilt it with DX gears:(.

I am at 3000rpm @ 70mph
2600rpm@60mph

So there is a used drivetrain my local salvage out of a vx...

Based on what I found, the vx trans should be at 2375rpm@70mph.

Based on your guys wisdom, am I coming to the correct conclusion?

What would you guys suggest to remedy this problem?

I don't know of any transmission show that rebuild manual transmissions, they buy a used one for $150 from a salvage yard and swap it, when I did it for the first time it took 6 hours.
Swap it for the right transmission, check car-part.com

That was my thought too. I don't hear much about people rebuilding manual transmissions either. They likely just swapped it.

The one at the salvage they said had 165k on the Odometer. But would def be better option for fuel mileage.
