95 Metro Trans Swap

95 Metro 1.3 automatic gas guzzler! ( On the highway that is)
Has anyone removed an auto 3 speed and put in a 5 speed manual.
What would I need (computer, harness, axles etc.)
Hope it's been done.
I have no problem swapping the stuff, been a mechanic 30 years.
Thanks for any help, Wally

I'm sure it's been done. Not by me of course, but it can't be all that hard. If no one chimes in with personal experience, I would start by checking out part numbers to see what actually needs changing (ie, axles did not when I did the swap on my Honda).

Good luck

I've never swapped a 1995 or newer, but I've done a 1994. Axles need to be changed on a Metro, they're different lengths. I think you can leave the computers alone. You'll have to make the hole for the clutch cable. On my '94, the clutch cable hole was cut into the inner layer of the firewall. Auto/manual engine mounts are a little different on a '94 and older, I'm not sure about the newer cars. Having the donor car right next to the car being swapped was very helpful for me.

You need a complete parts car to make the swap successful.
