95 Saturn SW2 VSS Problem
Finally got around to installing the MPGuino today in my 95 Saturn SW2. It seems I have it all hitched up except the VSS isn't working right.
For my speed it says 0.00 at a stop, then as soon as the car starts moving it goes to 0.40 then back to 0.00 and stays at 0.00 until you come to a stop and go again. I am getting injector readings no problem. I am tapping all my connection from the ECM wires under the dash and am using the one labeled "Speed Out 5000 RPM (DOHC)" pin A2 on conenctor J2 as mentioned by another Saturn guy here. Seeking advice. Thanks. |
Ok, got it working. Evidently needed to reset the Ardunio.
I'm using the settings posted by someone here with a 97 Saturn, mine is a 95. It says about 250mpg when cruising at 50mph. Numbers are consistant, in that when I whomp on the pedal the mpg's drop and when I coast down a hill they rise. What's th ebest way to go about finding the right numbers for my calibration. Thanks! |
The best way to calibrate is by using the same gas pump to fill up, and by tracking the miles driven with the odometer. Exact instructions are in the wiki, here. It's got step by step details of how to calibrate it.
Good luck! |
Yes, I have read the calibration techniques. I guess I was more hoping to determine why the major number differences between a 95 or 97 Saturn S-Series both with the same engine. Thanks.

I used the 97 Saturn Settings Dcb put up as well, but I don't have the 250mpg indication like you do.
I do think my tank mpg is off just a bit, so I'll have to tweak my VSS/pulse setting, but I'll do that in time. Other than that, my speed is right, my distance traveled is right so... I think I'm at about 37-38mpg for my current tank, but my big tank shows 34 mpg for the tank so far... Tapping in at the PCM/ECU was a little bit of pain wasn't it? :) |
