'99 Subaru Outback Grill Block Attempt!

1 Attachment(s)
Hello fellow ecomodders,
since it's gotten cold again, I've noticed a significant difference in my mpg action. it takes forever for my car to even warm up and sometimes it never really gets up to temp at all. Thought I should attempt to put up a lower grill block. I know I know it's certainly not perfect, and I had to leave a small space on one side for my deployable block heater plug, but don't be too hard on me...I'm trying!

If it's not heating up, get a new thermostat in there!

Looks good to me!

yea, it seems like this mod has already had a level of negative effect on suseptibility to heavy winds. is this normal. is it harder to handle a car that's more air tight in this way? i guess it would make sense.

handling

I've not run across any mention of handling issues associated with grille modifications.Even EVs with totally sealed front ends.
Would you describe the new behavior as:pitch ?
-------------------------------------- roll ?
-------------------------------------- yaw ?

I"ve never had any "handling" issues with only a simple grill block mod

For the sake of curiosity, have you tried removing the grill block to see if the handling issues went away?

These single-wheel trailers look interesting. I wonder if I could get exempt of road fees with one where I live.
