AC charge question for Geo

I tried searching, but get a bazillion links to either tire pressure, or removing the AC...

AC in my geo is cool, but not cold. I just got a manifold set to see what's going on.

It's 90 ambient, sunny, humid.... Air out of the vent is 65
High pressure at about 280psi....upped from about 220psi with same temp.

...where should it be?

65 out of the vents is a little warm. . .But other than that it sounds about right.

Only suggestion is if you have a spare can of refrigerant lying around and are capable of refilling it you might wanna do that. It sounds like the refrigerant might be just a hair low(its got low volume to start with so a little bit might be enough to push it).

If I weer to guess I would say its maybe 2-3 ounces low and the compressor is reheating the gasses instead of the gasses cooling the compressor(yes its the same thing, but in once case the compressor is getting warmer and in the other the compressor stays at operating temps).

If you add a little. . .I would guess its R-12(?) not sure what year you are, it ought to drop down to around 50-55. It might be dead on at 65 since the geo is geared towards FE friendliness they might have intentionally designed it with a low yield compressor(also low load).

what year

i believe the 95 and up accept R-134

The correct way to check the charge is by checking superheat or subcooling.

Add some leak tracer so you can actually find the leak and fix it. Otherwise, you'll have to redo the fix from time to time.
