add "$ paid per gallon" section to fuel log?

Just thought it would be a nice addition to the fuel log..

thanks

Greenblazer 07-10-2008 04:40 AM

I agree. That would be very nice.

othergames 07-10-2008 09:40 AM

Amazing, I just came here to make this suggestion!

LUVMY02CREW 07-10-2008 09:56 AM

For a while now, I've been adding price per gallon, total cost, and octane to my comments so I can keep track of all that....makes it easy to scan to see how your prices jump around...see my fuel log for what Im talking about.

I think it would be nice to enter it into log boxes like other info instead of entering it in comment section.....OR maybe have a certain number of info boxes that you can customize to your liking

From there it'd be simple to calculate "$ saved vs EPA" history

SVOboy 07-10-2008 11:27 AM

Great idea, surprised we forgot to put that in, :)

drool.......

MetroMPG 07-10-2008 04:53 PM

Price field added. Be happy! That was time I could have been working on my Kammback! :p

SirKeats 07-10-2008 05:51 PM

While we're adding features to the fuel log...

Would it be way to difficult to change the way millage works so that instead of having to calculate the miles traveled yourself, you just enter your actual millage and it calculated the miles run based on the previous entry?

just a thought... perhaps too much work on the back end to make work.

othergames 07-10-2008 05:54 PM

Please say if it's too much to ask -- is it easy to create the "$ saved vs. EPA estimated usage"?

MetroMPG 07-10-2008 09:10 PM

Mike's currently working on the gallons saved widget, so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to translate that into $ saved.

SirKeats, that's two requests to have the fuel log do the math for you (math is hard!), so I've put it on ye olde liste.

(We really have a list, and we really do chip away at it. Honest! "EcoModder.com - we give a damn!" (TM))

Could you please grow the length of price's field to 6 ?
We are paying 8+$/g so a tank is 100+$... please see my megane's log.

Please don't halt your good work on your Kammback just to modify that field. Seeing you making such complicated things, motivates me to make more simple ones.

Denis.

I also agree it would be easier to enter a fuel log like this...............

Date
Gallons added
Current odometer
Price per gallon

The forum software or whatever program you use can simple take an average from that.

Ah - I set up the field based on a request for price/unit of fuel, not total amount of the fill.

Funny. :D You're welcome. Don't follow my example!

Current odometer

My current odometer doesn't have 1/10 of km while trip odometer has.

People having trip computer may not want to log trips done by other people... With current odometer this would be more difficult.

Understood and corrected PBCK (Problem Between Chair & Keyboard).

Best examples are those permitting you to learn from your own mistakes ;)

LUVMY02CREW 07-13-2008 05:12 PM

I just moved all the prices that I had from comments into the newly added box...:D:thumbup:

I knew that prices had gone crazy around here lately, but an increase of 87cents in about 4 months is WAY BEYOND crazy!!!!

akcapeco 07-17-2008 11:29 AM

I would like to see two other items that would show up: a number next to each entry, so that if I sort by say, MPG, I'd see where I "stand" in the overall group, and I could then see the total number of participants in the EM Garage too.

I'd also like to see the total number of fills a particular vehicle has... and I'd like to be able to rank the vehicles that way. I think it would be very useful to see who has a high mileage and has been consistent in posting their info.

othergames 07-18-2008 10:50 PM

If the cost of the gas is $0, does it show up in the field? It looks like it's just coming up blank instead of showing the value.

Chris D. 07-18-2008 11:24 PM

why would you want to put zero?

othergames 07-18-2008 11:28 PM

My first tank was included with the car, and since then I've taken significant advantage of my supermarket's fuel-discount program. I actually haven't paid for gas in several months.

rsx2002 07-19-2008 06:07 AM

I would like to see days between fill ups recorded. thats just as important than MPGs to me.

MetroMPG 07-21-2008 07:23 PM

rsx: what are you thinking, something like a "N days since previous fill" that gets computed each time you make a new entry?

Other people: suggestions noted & added to the to do list.
