Additionnal XGauges

I thought I'd start a thread to list extra Xgauges that are not in their current pdf.

Currently, the only one I got working is the MAF, value reported in g/s. I found it at cleanmpg.

ISO and VPW TXD: 686AF10110
PWM TXD: 616AF10110
CAN TXD: 070E0110

RXF:044141100000
RXD:2810
MTH:000100010000

I am experimenting with commands and getting some responses. I am hoping I will get some more working.

I just figured out how to get the temperature of the 1st o2 sensor for CAN vehicles. The following is for degrees Celcius. Makes for a cheap EGT gauge. The temp is slow to update, so spikes won't show, but it's still a fair indicator.

TXD: 07E0013C
RXF: 0441853C0000
RXD: 2810
MTH: 000100010028

Honestly, I wonder why there's not more codes publicly available. I found it fairly easy to figure it out. I will post more as I get some time to experiment.

which gear which gear!! (for automatics)

how are you figuring all this out? plz point us to some readmes

I just started digging into this 2 days ago. Some things might not work for everyone as I can only test on a VW ISO and a Hyundai CAN.

The TXD is easy, it's always (AFAIK) you vehicle type prefix, the mode and the pid.

Prefixes:
ISO and VPW: 686AF1
PWM: 616AF1
CAN: 070E

For the mode and pid refer to this wikipedia article

You can have a look if your ECU responds to a pid by going to the cmds screen in sg and sending the TXD (for my VW ISO) or just the mode followed by the PID (for my CAN).

I suggest you read this Xgauge coding document. Feel free to ask questions afterwards and I'll try to help.

The hard part is actually finding the PID and knowing what it is for, and then figuring how to display the response. It's easy for standard OBDII PIDs as it's well documented. But other specific PIDs implemented by manufacturers (the ones that would probably be really interesting) are harder to come by.

My Elantra comes equipped with a broad band 1st o2 sensor. I just figured out how to get the lambda equivalence ratio.

TXD:07E00124
RXF:044145240000
RXD:2810
MTH:006480120000

Under 1 is rich, over 1 is lean.

Or the following to display it as the AFR.
MTH:05BE80120000

I kinda got confused with it at first. But after I read the wikipedia article, it was relatively easy. Thanks for posting this one up.

Do these have to be typed in using the SG's lovely five button interface, or is there a way to hook the SG to the PC?

robbiewt 12-30-2008 11:22 AM

It is all done on the SG.
