Advice on Geo Metro XFI

I am looking at a local ad for a 1992 Geo Metro xfi with 40,000 (actual) miles and "some" rust for $950. This seems like a good deal to me. Am I right? What should I look for? I think I read somewhere that the shock towers tend to rust out. Is that true? And other tips?

Control arm mounts. Those are the deal breaker, unless you want it for parts or know a competent frame/chassis welder, because the measurements for the hard points are available now, so they can be reconstructed safely ans within some scope of alignment specs.

Crawl under the front of the car and look at where the suspension mounts to the body of the car, poke at the lower parts with a pencil, if you can stick your finger all they way thru then you have a parts car, if they are solid then buy it! unless everything else is falling apart to the point of being unsafe as well.
