well its been over 3 years and time for an update:

the aluminum pans last well, but I am on my second set as the holes self widen. If the bolts are not 100% snug the pans can rock forward and back a bit and over time the bolts no longer hold the pans on. So on my second set I started using washers from the start and it helps greatly.

also the slight tick tick noise of the pans rattling on the edges gets very annoying with the windows down. I have been simmering on how to fix this, and got some inspiration from some large saw blades we have at work (16") when they come back from sharpening the tips are coated in a plastic dip coat of some sort.......

this week I got a can of plastic dip and rolled the edges in it and no more noise! I will update after some miles, I would think it will not come off but it might.

The sticker residue is a special touch!

I keep thinking of putting some on mine, but then I just fizzle out. Not sure what I'd accomplish considering the 12" rims . . . .

What are the aerodynamic properties of a small pepperoni with extra cheese, I wonder?

RE: the screw holes widening, what if you 1) enlarge them slightly right now so you can 2) fit them with grommets? The grommets will absorb vibrations and cancel virtually any noise - whatever noise might be left after you've cushioned the rims as you have - and prevent metal-to-metal contact and thus hole enlargement.
