Aero-template top down/frontal
1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I have tried searching but must not be using the right keywords so I am asking for a little help. I am trying to find a picture or diagram of what the aero-template looks like from the top down and what the 3-d shape would look like from the front. As if it were coming straight at you. I found this picture and wondered if the resulting outline of the template and inverted template made up the correct "top-down" view. If so, would the correct side taper be approx. 12*? I thought I had seen here that it should be closer to 7*. I don't have any specific plans for the shape. I am just trying to learn more. I don't think I have ever seen a frontal representation of the "aero" shape here. Then again, I must be using the wrong keywords in my searches because I am pretty sure I have seen a top down view thread here somewhere and can't seem to find it. Thanks. |
Coming at you it should look like this:
http://abyss.uoregon.edu/~js/images/half_circle.gif You don't see it much because the headroom isn't that great ;) The teardrop you posted will work for the top view (aka plan view). Taper will vary, but the most taper you can put on it is 22-23 degrees. You have to build up to it to do it properly though- that's why the template is curved the way it is. For overall visualization check out the Schlorwagen. It's shorter than it should be, but otherwise pretty great. http://www.influx.co.uk/wordpress/wp...712397753.jpeg Grab a drink and read though this, if you dare: :D http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...rt-c-9287.html |
The curve gets steeper as you go back, angles are from the top 0 point to tip:
0, 3.5, 7.5, 12, 15, 18.5, 21, 22, 22, 22, 22. Try google images aerodynamic streamlining template part-c - Google Search most of the images are from here. |

I'll look around some more.Sorry for the inconvenience.:o |
I found the 'Template' plan-view
Please do a search for the thread 'new images for 'template.'
The second image down is an underside plan-view,although it will be the same for the top if you ignore the surface details. Remember, this is just a working drawing,I'm still working on this one. |
