Aeromods on my GasHOG
After learning a lot of tricks from you guys over the past year, i have been gradually modifying my 08 liberty aka GasHOG, here is the progress so far:
The obvious Fia grill block, warms up the truck a lot faster: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02889.jpg Honda ridgeline style diffusers on the mirror: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02890.jpg Added Front and rear tire air deflectors, I tried to put a bigger air dam up front, but after numerous failed attempts, I just put inverted mudflaps and happy as to how they turned out: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02886.jpg Side view: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02887.jpg Rear tire deflector, it looks a lot bigger than it actually is, but i may trim it a little more: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02888.jpg Rear kammback, ordered a 48"x 12" smoked plexiglass, It was a nightmare to bend with a heat gun. In hindsight, I should not have ordered the 1/4" one as it is too thick, but the rear of the liberty has these 1/4" ridges and i notched the plexiglass at either ends to fit it flush with the ridges so that it stays on the roof line. The clips are just there temporarily till the acrylic foam tape cures. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...DSC02892-1.jpg Its in line with the roof: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02893.jpg Side view: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...s/DSC02891.jpg Any comments and constructive criticism is always welcome:thumbup: |
You're in the right direction. The plexiglass is probably not doing anything, nor are the little diffusers on the mirrors. The rest looks pretty good though.

Rav -
Really good. I like the front tire deflector. It looks like you are following the "classic" OEM look on other cars, covering part of the tire and part of the axle. I am definitely interested in how the kammback works. I hadn't heard of using "acrylic foam tape" in other mods, so I am interested in it's long term durability. My paranoid brain assumes the kammback will "wiggle" and stress the tape over time. Ha ha, you should wear one of those winter jackets that has the same stitch as the grill block. You and your Liberty would be in winter-wear. CarloSW2 |

As far as the acrylic foam tape is concerned it is commonly used to attach exterior moldings on cars or trucks. I had a rear air deflector on my older cherokee and i had used a single 1/2" tape and it held on great for 3+ years that i had the jeep. This one is attached by 3 1/2" tapes, we will see how long it lasts.:D Just made a 20 mile run at 55 mph without the clips and the kammbacjk stayed on. Ravi |

In my pics it is hard to see but the kammback has ~15 deg curve downwards. I hope it will have a positive effect. I am planning to get a scangauge to have a better record of my mpg. |
