Aftermarket Aero Bumpers/Lips

Two questions to kick it off …

How many aftermarket "aero kits" are designed to produce less drag? What percentage of kits have been aero tested, either in the wind tunnel or with software?

I'd reckon it's few and far between for both.

The same goes for lips.

OEM style replacement front bumpers can be under $100. Aftermarket bumpers are a good bit more expensive than that, but they are all hideous. I've never seen an aftermarket Civic bumper I liked, other than on a purpose built drag car (where it's all about form following function).

I just picked up a $31 lip for Slambo, to replace the d-i-y air dam I ripped off. The lip seems to be of relatively good quality and was well packed (amazed at both). Wouldn't it be cool if it was aero? I'm betting this one isn't, but what if there was one that was (complete with tire spats)?

Would you consider buying a true aero replacement bumper or lip for your vehicle, if it:

- produced less drag
- wasn't hideous, and
- was affordable?

Hi
many years ago i remember two companies called kat and karmei that developed after market aero mods that were actually tested in wind tunnels and produced a drag reduction of 5%. Where are they now?

Kamei is still around, but doesn't have much presence in the States. Looks like they sell roof boxes these days. http://www.kamei.de

Found a cool article about the KAT Capri …
