I was probably wrong about ASICs replacing GPUs. Spent some time with AI the other day and learned that CPUs are generalists, but not great at any particular thing and not energy efficient, GPUs are most efficient at training AI models, and NPUs are a type of ASIC that is most efficient at inference.

The GPUs figure out what form the neural network takes, and NPUs execute within that established neural network.

For fun, I'll just guess that Nvidia is 20% overvalued and we will see that correction.
Might be too late

Winter here, so you are correct!
Both ASICs and 'gaming rigs' gaming crypto 'in mom's basement'!
'Mom's really enjoying the ~20kw of free heat wafting up from the basement!

There are options to do AI type stuff rather than crypto, but more hands on as yet.
Crypto is more 'Set and Forget'

Shrink data centers to the size of a refrigerator?

Power drawn is reduced by three orders of magnitude.
